Chasing Colour
“The suite of works in Wendy Grace’s online exhibition Chasing Colour, 2022-23, is vividly alive with popping colour, line and spatial vision. Grace deploys her distinct and prodigious store of technique; sweeping brushed gestures, soft loose areas of tone/colour, sudden elements of structured patterning and stretched tensile lines, all working in orchestration to create a dynamic whole. What appears to be spontaneous and improvised may well have been more carefully considered given the range of visual stimuli on view.
Wendy Grace has intuitively chased colour, expertly captured it and shares her sometimes energetic, sometimes contemplative responses generously with us, viewers of her works.

A thousand breaths of your love.
Memories of life are caught in these small square handkerchiefs of lace, embroidery, linen and cotton. Sixty-six colourful hankies of my mother's that signify a memory of a time in her life or mine, experiences that are knotted together in lines entwined to create a wall hanging, suspended from a historical art stretcher in my studio.
